Scribemind #CreateItForward Challenge: Flash Fiction February

You + me + February = 29 days of stories.

Join me for the first Scribemind #CreateItForward Challenge of 2020: Flash Fiction February. The goal is to write a short story — I mean it, SHORT! — every day this month. Every. Day. Then, at the end of the month, we’ll compile our stories and share them with each other. Here are all of the details:

But… Why?

Why not? Let’s write stories without overthinking it. Let’s get the wildest, weirdest ideas out of our system. Let’s remember that writing is fun and good for our souls. Let’s not think about making our writing marketable or well-edited and just write.

The written word is my chosen medium, but I think a lot about artists and their processes. I don’t think writers “doodle” enough. Consider this your “literary sketchbook” for the next few weeks.

The Basics

Every day during the month of February, write a short piece of flash fiction (no more than 500 words). The story should be a complete idea that you tell in as few words as possible; this isn’t NaNoWriMo and we’re not writing manuscripts. The ideas don’t have to be great — they just have to be yours!

I’ll be working alongside you during this challenge, so you’ll have a supporter rooting for you every step of the way.

Sign up here to get your starting kit, including 29 days worth of prompts, a desktop wallpaper, and a form-fillable PDF that you can use as your booklet. This challenge is completely free and there are no strings attached — this is just one of several challenges I have planned for this year that I hope will excite, inspire, and motivate you to create.

We start on February 1st. No cheating and starting early! ;) Let’s do this together. I can’t wait to see what stories you write.
