I’m Ashley Warren: professional writer, researcher, and educator.
I am a successful creative not because I’ve published dozens of novels (I haven’t) or because I’m a household name (obviously not!) but because I wake up every day knowing I’m leading a creative life and that every creative project I dream about is within my reach.
I know that even my wildest ambitions are achievable because I’ve spent more than a decade learning how to start, create, and finish projects; how to use the right tools for the right project; how to research and retain information; and how to break down a huge, ambitious project into manageable pieces (without burning out). The effort I’ve put into developing my process will continue to carry me forward. Now I want to help you find yours.
Behind the Name
I produced this series while taking a course called Building a Second Brain by Tiago Forte. I love the name of that course because a) it tells me exactly what it’s about and b) it’s fun and memorable. One of the course takeaways is that creativity is a conversation, and creatives rarely need to start from scratch and can use the work of other creatives as a starting point (note that this is different from blatant plagiarism; it’s about using existing ideas to kickstart your own, not copying). After some musing, I came up with Identifying Your Creative Heartbeat because that’s what this series is about: finding a creative process that works for you.
