Ashley, annotated:
Ashley Warren is an award-winning writer and narrative designer who has developed, produced, and co-authored numerous bestselling titles for Dungeons & Dragons including the Uncaged Anthology series, Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden, Heckna!, and Legendlore. She serves as the director of the Storytelling Collective, a global online writing program for independent creative storytellers. Ashley is best known for her immersive, atmospheric storytelling that she lends to both games and fiction, and she is passionate about exploring themes of culture, identity, and folklore in her work. She holds a Masters in Literacy Studies from the University of Nevada-Reno.
It’s her life’s work to support her fellow storytellers, which is how Scribemind came to be!

What am I currently writing?
I have a few irons in the fire at present! Among them:
My middle-grade fantasy novel, project name “Ember,” is in final revisions and going out soon to beta readers! This is a Mediterranean-inspired tale about a firstborn daughter who inadvertently unravels her family’s legacy while leading an annual youth pilgrimage. If I have written a “heart book,” this is it.
I’m still slowly querying Project Fleur-de-Lis and implementing revisions based on feedback I received from the fabulous Mary McMyne. Mary gave this book a much-needed review last year and her insight was invaluable! Hopefully this book will see the light of day at some point. If you’re interested in reading it, I’d be happy to send to you. It’s contemporary literary fiction with some historical narratives interwoven throughout. I pitch it as The Grand Budapest Hotel meets Under the Tuscan Sun. This book is your classic “American woman unlocks a new part of herself in Europe.” (Yes, there is romance.)
I’m chipping away at a spec fic novella, a near-future story set in Nevada, inspired by The Man from U.N.C.L.E and my love for Russian spies, messy-haired engineers, and resourceful librarians. This story has been in the works for more than a decade; I didn’t really have it in me to turn it into something real until about a year ago.
Last fall I “broke ground” on my ambitious historical fiction novel set in the immediate aftermath of the Thirty Years War. It’s a weird one and pretty experimental. It will probably take me a while to write. If you want to read it as it develops, let me know!
